Position Description

The Idaho Youth Ranch is seeking a new Area Manager for the Teton, Magic Valley, and North Idaho area. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of all retail locations in this area. It is crucial that you serve as a positive leader and representative of the Idaho Youth Ranch to both staff and members of the community. In addition to overseeing the operations of stores and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, you will develop and maintain a “team” dynamic amongst Manager and staff creating an extensive support system.

Responsibilities:
• Ensures the assigned stores are fully staffed, stocked, merchandised to agency standards and are consistently executing agency programs and initiatives.
• Provides adequate and on-going training in all areas of operations. Ensures that training is delivered in conjunction with the established IYR Employee Training Checklist.
• Ensures compliance with agency standard in all personnel related activities such as hiring, training, corrective action, performance evaluations, terminations, etc.
• Directs the development of annual budgets in assigned area. Monitors plan progress regularly throughout year.
• Reviews monthly financial reports, including payroll processing. Ensures data is calculated and reported according to agency guidelines.
• Conducts regular quality assessments. Takes steps to ensure compliance with the agency’s Quality Assurance standards where necessary.
• Ensures compliance with all safety guidelines including the proper handling of merchandise, ADA and other government regulations, company standards in securing property, and managing theft.
• May need to serve as Store Manager at stores in assigned area when position is vacant or incumbent is on extended leave.
• Maintains records in accordance with state and federal laws, agency and other applicable rules, and reporting standards.
• Operates cash registers, credit card machine and check processing equipment.
• Operates pallet jacks, hand-carts, lift gates, and other loading/moving equipment.
• Performs functions related to the daily opening, daily operation, and daily closing of a store

Must Haves:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
• A minimum of three years management experience in an Idaho Youth Ranch thrift store or similar industry
• Demonstrated work ethic, integrity and professional conduct
• Proven abilities that have shown or translate into effectively managing multiple locations
• Ability to effectively organize, structure activities and manage staff in a positive and empathetic manner
• Ability to effectively drive daily store-level execution through use of root cause analysis
• Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer usage skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Ability to be trained in, understand and use agency-provided training on internal computer/software products that run POS, time-keeping and product inventory reports and data.
• Successful candidate may need to live within area of supervision based on the agency’s discretion
• Interest in and knowledge of the retail environment, including general knowledge of popular brands, product pricing and antiques
• Must be available for on-call work at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Ability to work weekend hours regularly
• Valid, state-issued driver’s license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements, Mental, Equipment & Working Condition Elements:
• Capable of lifting at least 40 pounds
• Travel required 25%-75% of the time, based on agency needs, with some overnight stays required
• Must be willing and able to work at multiple work sites on a regular basis
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including hot and cold environments regularly
• Must be able to accurately discern colors
• Incumbent may stand for long periods of time
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
• Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
